About Me 2.0

Fast forwarding from 2009 to catch you up: a lot of stuff happened! #understatement

It’s now 2021…thankfully!!!

That being said, my major #PandemicPivots were as follows:

  • retirement after 20 years for a total of 40 years in the workforce
  • parlaying my office, admin and tech skills into a full-time Virtual Assistance business
  • building my crochet business full-time
    • teaching crochet online
    • designing featuring indie dyer yarns

ALL of these were goals, but I had no idea I’d get to pull off a trifecta, especially under less than optimum circumstances!

Having time to give everything a good once-over, I’m restructuring and streamlining. I will be the change I want to see and grow the type of community I’d want to be a part of…so come along for the ride!

To My Tribe

I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays, but my wish is bittersweet because 2020 has been a lot: upheaval, loss, growth, pivoting.

To those who have suffered upheaval, I hope you’ve found a way to land softly and without too much damage.

To those who have suffered loss, I feel I can sympathize; not in comparison, but in unison. I hope you’ve been able to find some comfort in what and who you still have.

To those who’ve grown, in whatever growth means to you, I hope you’ve found that the pain is worth the prize…even when you can’t see it.

To those who have had to pivot, know that I fully understand that not everyone either could or had to, I hope you’ve found your footing, or at least begun to.

Please let this year forever remind you that you have more potential than you may have realized, and to not be your own worst critic.

Whatever you believe you can or can’t do or be…you’re right! #mindset

To my tribe…both new and familiar friends…thank you for rocking, walking and growing with me. I appreciate you, your friendship, support, knowledge, wisdom, talents, gifts, patience, opportunities, business, etc.

Let us name and claim a better 2021!!!

Vonne

Tell me what you want

It’s time for me to gear up and submit class proposals for 2021 events…so I’m asking what y’all want to learn…and if you wanna learn it from me!

Do y’all want to crochet classes? What kind: projects? techniques? basics / refreshers?

Here’s a poll…tell me what you want!

Because: 2020

So…I’lll start with “the road to Hell is paved with the best of intentions”…

That being said, I’ve decided to do a promotion for six of my hats through the end of the year!

Please go to my Ravelry Pattern Store and use coupon code #20fn20 for a 20% discount on these items through the end of this long year!

I hope this will inspire your gift giving…that includes to yourself, too!

Until next time…

Yvonne

P.S.: If ya want my 411 before I post it to social media…ya gotta get on my email list. You can do that from my most recent message here!

Pearl of Knitty City

Knitty City is a family-owned New York City yarn shop with a welcoming atmosphere for knitters, crocheters and all types of yarnies! Pearl’s presence made it a haven and community hub.

I’d try to make a day trip of visiting the store from time to time, or at least make a yearly pilgrimage to use my gift card…one of the benefits of having a client who knows you love yarn!!! 🙂

Although I never participated in the Bryant Park scarf knitting events, I made sure to swing by the always-busy Knitty City booth at Vogue Knitting Live, even if only long enough to say hello.

Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures with Pearl to share, but I do have fond memories of visiting the shop for special events; each with a different vibe…like talks by Aniqua of My Kinda Thing, Sue of Sue Rock Originals, and Wallace of That Brother Can Knit.

I’m still not sure I have the words to convey why and how this is such a great loss to many. My condolences to the breadth and depth of her family.

Yeah…another hat!

Since I like to teach a technique class with a project in mind, I was inspired to go one step further and design a hat…’cause who doesn’t need another hat, right?)

Tunisian Crochet Entrelac hat

The pattern will be available at Ravelry starting September 7, 2020 until I can decide how I’ll host patterns on my own website.

Fiberworld…one week after

This time last week, the internet was abuzz about Fiberworld 2020, which I fondly refer to as the newest and next-level virtual fiber festival!

As a member of #TeamFiberworld, I’d like to thank everyone who became a part of the event, and I already can’t wait until next year!!!

Last call for Fiberworld!

Greetings, yarnie peeps! This will likely be my last in a barrage of messages or posts you’ve seen from me about Fiberworld because registration will be closing soon. My Tunisian Entrelac Crochet class is on Friday, August 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight time, so you have until the day before the start of the class to register!

First, go to www.fiberworld2020.com and check out the intro video. (hint: my very first voiceover gig!) Then, decide which ticket level you’ll need. Lastly, register for your classes and you’re all set!

Be sure to check out the Schedule of Events to see EVERYTHING that’s going on…there’s a lot! 🙂

Here’s a teaser for my class:

  • Tunisian Entrelac crochet sample for Fiberworld 2020 class in solid and variegated to emphasize the structure of the stitch pattern

Remember…because this is a virtual show, the world can attend! Be sure to share everywhere, and we’ll see you then! 🙂
